If you're looking for a driving instructor who truly goes above and beyond, this is a reference for John Wickham—and I can't recommend him highly enough.

I passed my driving test on the first try, and it's all thanks to John's excellent teaching. I had two previous instructors before him, and John was miles ahead of them in every way. He explains everything in great detail and always makes sure you fully understand what you're doing and why. What really sets him apart is how he comes up with clever ways to help you remember things—whether it's through little memory tricks or helpful drawings.

John really takes the time to help you understand the rules of the road and each manoeuvre, not just memorise them. That made a huge difference for me, because I felt confident knowing exactly why I was doing something, not just how.

The pre-tests were amazing and really helped me focus on what I needed to practice. They gave me the confidence to go into the test feeling fully prepared and calm.

He also has a really calm and reassuring way about him, which makes such a difference when you’re nervous. He knows exactly how to put you at ease and build your confidence behind the wheel.

John is outstanding at his job, and if you're lucky enough to get him as your instructor, I can wholeheartedly say you are in amazing hands. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone learning to drive!

I was fortunate enough to get Sean as my driving instructor and I was amazed to see how good he is. Highly recommend the In Gear driving school! I got my learner's permit last year and had to get the 12 hours EDT. I chose In Gear thanks to Dublin reddit folks recommending them as very test-focused and no-nonsense. I got exactly that. My instructor, Jimmy, was very patient (it was my first experience driving on the other side of the road), diligent and to the point. Now I just need to practice some more in my own car before the final exam, which Jimmy also made easy for me, since he sent me a lot of pdf material and personalized tips after our lessons were done, so I don't forget what he taught me. Fingers crossed I pass on the first try!
